A police officer shot a person in Tallassee on Friday afternoon, and state police are looking into the incident.
According to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Tallassee Police Department officers responded to a report of domestic abuse on Notasulga Road.
According to officials, Adam Davis, 38, was shot by the officers after he allegedly discharged his pistol during the incident.
To receive care for his wounds, Davis was flown to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. According to WSFA, his condition is stable but serious.
According to state police, no cops were hurt in the incident. According to the news release, the Tallassee Police Department asked state police officials to look into the situation.
Following his discharge from the hospital, Davis will be taken to the Muscogee County Jail in preparation for his extradition to Alabama. The news announcement stated that in addition to pending allegations of domestic abuse, he faces a federal charge of felon in possession of a handgun.
The results of the investigation will be given to the office of District Attorney Mike Segrest of the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
Segrest told WSFA that there isn’t a continuous threat to the community.
