15 kilos of cocaine, $336,000 cash seized in ‘one of the largest’ drug busts in recent Jefferson County history

Nearly 15 kilograms of cocaine and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash were found during a raid at a Center Point residence.

Drug trafficking charges have been brought against Marcus Allen Harper, 41, of Birmingham, who has a lengthy arrest record. The Jefferson County Jail is holding him without bond.

JCSO spokesperson Henry Irby remarked, “This is one of the biggest we’ve seen in recent memory.”

SWAT, the Sheriff’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team, and narcotics investigators from the Sheriff’s office searched a home in the 10 block of 12th Court N.W. in Center Point on Wednesday.

Harper was swiftly placed under arrest Wednesday after a protracted investigation that culminated in the raid, according to Irby.

32 pounds and 14.5 kilograms of cocaine, worth $336.00 on the black market, were found during a search of the house. Additionally, smaller quantities of crack cocaine, methamphetamine, Adderall, ecstasy, marijuana, and synthetic marijuana were found.

Two rifles, two handguns, digital scales, equipment used to package drugs, and $336,753 in cash were found by investigators.

Sheriff Mark Pettway stated, “This drug seizure demonstrates the success of our committed efforts and teamwork.” Together, we can put an end to illicit activities and ensure everyone’s safety.

According to the sheriff, drug trafficking seriously jeopardizes both public safety and our health. Maintaining the safety of Jefferson County’s residents is my top responsibility.
