On Tuesday, the Prattville Council decided to temporarily ban self-storage facilities and mini-warehouses.

According to the rule, Prattville’s neighboring cities have seen an increase in the number of companies that are permitted to operate such operations. However, the city considers the overabundance of self-storage facilities and mini-warehouses to be a drawback, so restricting the city’s capacity to draw in a variety of business types. The councilors came to the conclusion that allowing for the balanced and orderly growth of these enterprises is optimal for the general development of the economy.

According to the ordinance, the city must review its current zoning laws in order to make the required enhancements and modifications for these kinds of commercial operations. To further examine the zoning ordinance and deal with the problem, the city is now appointing a Planning and Development Director.

Residents were given the opportunity to comment on the evening’s agenda before the vote. The council was informed by Rev. Ell White II that he is in favor of the moratorium.

Because when you look around the City of Prattville, it appears that we have more facilities and storage than there are homes. White said, “I hope you also put a moratorium on coffee and chicken.” because I believe there are enough coffee shops and chicken eateries in our area. Prattville has enough coffee and chicken, so we’ve become the laughing stock around here. I’m not sure who is over the economic.
