On July 4, 1980, Antonio Bam Richards was born in Troy, Alabama. He attended Troy City Schools. In 1998, he received his high school diploma from Charles Henderson. He was a member of the football squad. In his senior year, he was named All-State. Later on, he attended Alabama State University to further his profession. He was an Alabama State football player. In his senior year, he was named All-Swac. Physical education was the subject of his Bachelor of Science degree. Alabama State University awarded him a master’s degree in educational leadership.

Coach Bam started coaching after graduating from college. Lanier High School was where he began his coaching career. Charles Henderson High School was his next stop as a coach. In January 2006, he began coaching at Prattville High School. He participated in six state championship games and was a member of the Prattville Lions football coaching staff, which won four state titles.

When he was the head coach at Autaugaville School in 2010, he received the Coach of the Year award. In addition, Coach Bam served as an offensive analyst and recruiting coordinator at the University of Michigan. Due to health issues, he was forced to retire from coaching in 2018.

Coach Bam has performed numerous community service projects with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, of which he is a proud member. He is currently employed by the Alabama Education Association (AEA) on a part-time basis.

He has been married to Melanie L. Richards, his high school sweetheart, for nearly twenty years. The couple has two lovely kids, Madison (16) and Angland (12). They belong to the Prattville Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Fred Gray is in charge.
