According to authorities, a single-vehicle collision in DeKalb County late Friday night claimed the life of a Collinsville man.
On DeKalb County 30, Derrick G. Barkley, 48, was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado when it veered off the road, collided with a utility post and a fence, and overturned. According to authorities, he was declared dead at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt.
Three miles northwest of Collinsville, close to DeKalb County 84, the collision happened at approximately 11:55 p.m.
The collision is being looked into by state troopers from the Highway Patrol Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
