According to court filings, a man who is suspected of killing a lady in Morgan County last week told a 911 dispatcher that he killed her just before police came to take him into custody.
Falkville resident Wyatt Braxton Young, 25, is being held without bond at the Morgan County Jail on a capital murder accusation.
He is charged with the murder of Nancy Deanne Sandlin Fox, 59, of Hartselle, who was discovered dead at a home on Stage Road on Thursday.
According to court allegations against him, Young planned to kill Fox when he drove to the house on Thursday before nine in the morning with a.45 handgun.
He noticed her inside the house after getting out of his car. She reported a man with a gun outside her house when she saw him and called 911.
Investigators said Young fired into the house as he approached it.
As Fox rushed into her bedroom, he broke the glass of the front door, went inside, and started shooting at her. He shot her there, and when the gun ran out of bullets, he hit her in the head. According to officials, he also kicked her with his steel-toed boots.
According to the paper, Young contacted 911, gave dispatchers his name and address, and claimed to have killed Fox.
He awaited the arrival of police, who arrested him on the spot. Additionally, he admitted to an officer that he was to blame for her demise.
Fox was declared deceased within the house.
Fox’s family described her as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister in an obituary statement, adding that she enjoyed caring for others.
According to her children, our mother was the most compassionate, trustworthy, and kind person we have ever met. Even if it was the only thing she had to give, she would take the shirt off her back for anyone, and she never met a stranger. You were her friend, family, or unofficial adopted child if you knew her. Many people miss and love her. We only ask that you keep us in your prayers during this trying time of mourning and recovery.
