Alabama first-rounder on his preseason debut with the Dallas Cowboys: ‘Today was big for me’

On Saturday night, Tyler Booker made his NFL preseason debut, taking another step toward resolving the Dallas Cowboys’ right guard vacancy.

When the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Baltimore Ravens 31–13, the former Alabama standout began at that position.

After Saturday night’s game, Booker told reporters, “Today was big for me in a couple ways.” My first actual NFL action, like you mentioned. but also establishing my regimen. The fact that we arrive at a time that differs from what I was accustomed to while I was in Alabama, for example. Simply put, I’m trying to figure out my pregame routine, and I think I did a decent job at it today. I’ll carry that over to the remainder of my games the following weekend.

Following the retirement of seven-time first-team All-Pro right guard Zack Martin, Dallas selected Booker at No. 12 in the April 24 draft. Against the Ravens, Booker appeared on 28 of the Cowboys’ 50 offensive snaps.

On September 4, Dallas will play the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL’s 2025 season opener to begin the regular season.

I feel like I’m more ready for that day after every practice, meeting, and walkthrough, Booker remarked. So, until that day arrives, we’re simply hoping to get well.

Booker did not participate in the Cowboys’ August 9 preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, which ended in a 31–21 loss. Playing versus Baltimore was a lot of fun, according to Booker.

Booker described his first action on Saturday night while wearing a Dallas uniform as “it’s really a dream come true.” I’m eager to see the movie and was happy to be out there with my buddies. I also enjoyed seeing some live action.

When asked how he felt he performed, Booker replied that the movie will provide an answer.

It’s never as good as you think; it’s never as horrible as you think is a common phrase in football, and Booker stated that he doesn’t want to respond to that subject at this time because he hasn’t had a chance to see the movie. I want to give myself a chance to see the movie before I respond to that question.

When asked how he believed Booker performed in his debut, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer essentially said the same thing.

Schottenheimer claimed, “I didn’t notice him.” Some of the inside linemen are difficult. I doubt I saw it as well as you people did.

However, I must admit that I thought some of the young men performed quite well. Shemar James, a former standout at Faith Academy, performed admirably, in my opinion. I saw him. Book performed well, in my opinion. I assumed that Damone (Clark), who isn’t really a youthful player, was flying around.
