Golfer says he ‘overdosed’ on creatine at BMW Championship: ‘I felt like I had tremors’

Ben Griffin, a golfer who struggled early in the final round of the BMW Championship, claimed to have overdosed on creatine.

Griffin provided a reason for his poor performance at the FedExCup Playoff tournament, where he triple bogeyed the opening hole.

“This morning, I didn’t take my creatine supplement until I basically fell asleep on one,” he stated. This was essentially a snowball of creatine, and I was at the end of my batch. After a month in my bucket, I split it up and placed it in my water bottle. Anyhow, I’m doing fine. I had previously taken it on the golf course. It’s all right.

After my second shot, I began swallowing it, and I swallowed one of the large rocks in my water bottle by mistake. I’ve never taken too much creatine before, but since I didn’t actually drink much water thereafter, I believe I did so in the moment. I essentially took a snowball-like breath.

According to Harvard Health, creatine aids in the quick synthesis of energy and may improve power or speed bursts that call for brief periods of anaerobic activity. Gym-goers frequently use the supplement because there is proof that it speeds up muscle recovery following intense exercise.

Griffin’s tournament score of 3-under par placed him in a tie for 12th place.
