Their family has been rocked by the unexpected deaths of an Alabama husband and wife within a few days.
According to Johnny’s brother Joey Prusha, Johnny had a heart attack over the weekend. Johnny and Tammy Schmidthorst lived in Prattville.
At their house, Tammy attempted CPR on Johnny, but it was unsuccessful.
In an emotional Facebook post, Prusha paid tribute to his sibling and expressed how much he missed his bubba.
“I understand that death is inevitable and will affect everyone at some point, but I simply wasn’t prepared,” Prusha said.
I’d like to have my bubba back. I already miss you, man, and I will miss you even more. I’ve never had to do anything as difficult as this. I learned a lot from you, but I never learned how to survive without you.
Two days later, on Monday, tragedy would strike once more when Tammy was discovered dead at the couple’s house. She was carrying Johnny’s clothing to the funeral home.
“Many of us think that Tammy died from a broken heart, but we have sent her body off for an autopsy,” Prasha informed Rick Karle.
Sons, grandchildren, and other family members survive the marriage.
The family has been stunned by the experience and now has to deal with the costs of a double funeral.
“My brother and sister-in-law’s funerals could cost up to $25,000,” Prusha informed Karle.
The past several days have been very challenging.
Prusha launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for the couple’s funeral, and it has already raised more than $7,000 of the $14,000 target.
According to Prusha, my brother tragically and surprisingly died on Saturday, August 16th, after a huge heart attack, as many of you may be aware.
Unbelievably, on Monday the 18th, we also lost his wife, Tammy. We all are being hit very hard by this, and since they had no life insurance, we need assistance burying them. We’d be very grateful for anything you could provide.
