According to investigators, a woman from Tuscaloosa was killed when she was thrown from an SUV that overturned and collided with a utility pole and an embankment early on Saturday morning.
Around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Tresda M. Caddell, 38, of Tuscaloosa, was a passenger in a 2002 GMC Yukon that had exited U.S. 11 near Cedar Cove Loop Road when the SUV collided with an embankment, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
According to Bailey, the SUV then flipped over and collided with a utility pole.
About two miles east of Coaling in Tuscaloosa County, Caddell was ejected from the SUV and declared dead at the scene of the single-vehicle collision. Caddell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
There were no injuries to the Yukon’s driver.
Dwight J. Jones, 66, of Cottondale, was the GMC’s driver; he was unharmed.
As state troopers continued their investigation into the crash, further details became available.
