Montgomery, Alabama Today, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall made the 2025 Alabama Safe Schools Initiative Awards application process public. These honors offer the chance to recognize and honor excellence as well as contemporary developments in school safety across the state. Applications must be submitted by Friday, August 15, 2025.

Nothing is more crucial than ensuring our kids’ health and safety, particularly throughout their school years. As the primary strategic partner with law enforcement, this yearly program is a grassroots endeavor to find communities and schools that form solid alliances and adopt cutting-edge safety solutions to safeguard and assist their schoolchildren all year long. Attorney General Marshall said, “Every year, I am inspired and impressed by the level of planning, investment, and training these communities and schools exhibit.” I’m excited to keep highlighting the best school safety practices, administrators, resource officers, parents, and students as we start a new school year.

A thorough four-phase application and evaluation process will be part of Attorney General Marshall’s 2025 Safe Schools Initiative, which aims to assess and improve school safety procedures. In particular, applicants will be evaluated for training and preparation, cooperation with local emergency response agencies, participation of school resource officers or alternative security personnel, structure and innovation of safety technology, community involvement, and education on law-related and prevention issues by impartial judges who have practical knowledge of school safety trends.
