Auburn stated on Tuesday that it will now recognize nine national championships, including seven more.
Because each championship reflects an Auburn team that won the national championship through a certain poll or service, the extra championships are claimed.
In addition to the already-known titles from 1957 and 2010, the new titles are 1910, 1913, 1914, 1958, 1983, 1993, and 2004.
The revelation was quickly reacted to by college football fans on AL.com’s social media posts.
Well, we should be able to claim a couple more if Bama can identify the Betty Crocker Cookbook survey from 1933. – Joe Mattingly
When I wore my 2004 national championship shirt to work last week, they labeled me crazy. Kiaro Melton
This is hilarious, but as a Bama fan, it’s almost as pitiful as ripping down goal posts or hurling toilet paper. – Tim Beasley
They’re still no better than their big brother, haha! Let the tide roll! Chris Hawkins
Yes, that was the method used to crown football champions in those days, but don’t you believe there should be a schedule for such events? Logan Ball
ESPN and all national records recognize 15 so, but Alabama claims 18. Most of ours are authentic. We don’t wait a century to make a claim. Turn the tide. Mason, Riley Garrett
Applying that math from Alabama… Steve Armstrong
Since Auburn went unbeaten and was denied the opportunity to compete, the last four games seem quite legitimate to a Bama fan. Those first three are not legitimate because the Rose Bowl determined the natty prior to World War II. Nathan Glen
It’s like UCF saying they have a natty, lol, for you guys to bring this up again. – Spencer Ziegler
83 should unquestionably be the national champs; I’m not convinced about the others. Auburn was completely cheated out of that championship. Miami has no justification for being named the national champion in 1983. Bowma, Mike
As a Bama supporter, I concur that the 2004 season assertion is true. 1993 is a little far. They didn’t play any postseason ball that year due to sanctions. Ben Duncan
To celebrate, roll over to Toomers Corner! – Mike Foley
A quick look through the record books led me to believe that the assertions made in 1913, 1983, and 2004 were legitimate. But Auburn wasn’t even the conference’s top team in 1910 and 1914. They were the second team in the conference and on probation in 1958. Though on probation, they were perhaps the finest team in the nation in 1993. All of this is pointless in the big picture, but it’s entertaining to discuss. Additionally, I believe that six dollars will get you a small coffee at Starbucks. Eagle of War! – Joe Mattingly
You might as well claim them if you can’t win them. LOL Troy Knox
The Updykes, after all, have two that didn’t even place in the top 20. Trey Lowery
Rent-free, Bama resides in that skull. – Tiffany Staubitz
I adore all of these Alabama sidewalk alums who remark on an Auburn site about how they live rent-free while wearing Walmart tees. I would love to troll your pages if I had the time. (But in reality, I don’t.) In any case, I can’t read half of what you all type. Eagle of War! Kelli Simpson Patterson
This doesn’t worry me at all because I’m a true Alabaman. Stan Bradford
