At the Prattville Council meeting on Tuesday, Mayor Bill Gillespie provided an update on the Bent Tree area, which has been plagued by water for many years.

Our city team is now able to examine and assess the ground water system in the Bent Tree area thanks to the hard work of our city attorney in getting the easement signed. Our crew found and eliminated some debris that was obstructing the system throughout this assessment procedure, Gillespie said.

Even though there has been a lot of rain in recent days, Gillespie said that everything is looking okay after visiting the region right before the council meeting.

Marcus Jackson, a councilor who was actively involved in trying to secure relief for the residents of Bent Tree, expressed gratitude for everything that has been done. Last year, he arranged for local officials to meet with people to talk about the persistent problems. In an attempt to find a solution, he reached out to the city authorities. Residents are grateful that it has been a success.

With things resolved, everyone may exhale with relief, Jackson added.
