Three former dancers are suing Birmingham Strip Club once more for allegedly failing to pay them overtime and minimum wage.
The Furnace allegedly violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by refusing the dancers overtime and minimum wage, according to the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday.
The lawsuit claims that as part of Defendants’ plan to label Plaintiffs and other dancers/entertainers as independent contractors, Plaintiffs were denied overtime and minimum wage payments while they worked for Defendants.
Additionally, the Furnace is charged with illegally collecting the dancers’ tips and requesting criminal kickbacks in the form of housing fees.
AL.com sent The Furnace a note for comment.
Among other remedies, the plaintiffs demand a jury trial and at least $100,000 in compensatory damages.
Former dancers filed a similar complaint against The Furnace in 2021, claiming the company engaged in unlawful kickbacks and failed to pay workers overtime or the minimum wage.
According to previously released documents, the strip club paid $1.25 million to resolve that litigation with the dancers in February 2024.
