Nissan has recalled more than 480,000 vehicles in the US and Canada due to a manufacturing defect.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the 2019–2024 Nissan Rogue, 2019–2020 Nissan Altima, 2019–2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55 are among the impacted automobiles.
Since all of the cars have variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines, they are all comparable.
According to the NHTSA, there may be manufacturing flaws in the engine bearings of the impacted cars that might cause engine failure.
About 443,898 vehicles in the US are affected by the recall, while 37,837 vehicles were recalled in Canada, according to the Associated Press.
Unusual noise coming from the engine compartment, rough running, malfunctioning indicator lights, and warning messages in the instrument cluster are all indicators that a bearing in the engine is defective.
On August 25, owners of the possibly affected vehicles will begin receiving notifications to bring them to a Nissan or Infiniti dealership for examination.
This will be part of Nissan’s remedy, as dealers will check cars for flaws and fix them for free, according to the NHTSA recall document.
According to the recall notice, dealers will repair the oil pan gasket, engine oil, and engine control module for cars with the 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engine if no debris is found during the inspection.
Dealers will change the engine oil on cars with the 4-cylinder 2.0L VC-Turbo engine if no debris is found. The repairs will be done at no cost.
