The annual Live the Creed banquet, organized by the Elmore County Auburn Club, will take place at the Wetumpka Civic Center on July 8. Luke Deal, the Auburn University football team’s two-year captain for 2023 and 2024, will receive this year’s award. Luke was the most-played tight end in Auburn football history, having played in 64 games. Luke received the Shug Jordan Award, which is given to an athlete or scholar who exhibits leadership, service, academic achievement, and physical prowess. The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award, which honors a collegiate football player who exhibits extraordinary leadership, bravery, integrity, sportsmanship, and a dedication to teammates, family, and the community, also considered him a semifinalist. Luke recently became an undrafted free agent and signed with the NFL’s Detroit Lions. Luke graduated from Auburn with a bachelor’s and master’s degree.

The Elmore County Auburn Club established the Live the Creed award in 2024 to honor an Auburn person who exemplifies the Auburn Creed and has a good impact on others. George Petrie, a professor at Auburn and the school’s first football coach, wrote the Creed in 1943. It placed a strong emphasis on the value of education, hard effort, integrity, and respect.

Supporter favorite Dylan Cardwell, the center for Auburn’s SEC-winning basketball team, was the recipient of the award last year.

The banquet will start at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Wetumpka Civic Center. In order to give an update on the team’s offseason work and hopes for the forthcoming football season, Dom Studzinski, head football strength and conditioning coach at Auburn, will also be there. Auburn cheerleaders will be available for pictures and autographs in addition to meals. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to win Auburn memorabilia. Children’s tickets cost $25 and include a chicken finger plate, while adult tickets cost $50 and include a prime rib/chicken supper.
