May is the start of the HIGH intake months of late spring/summer in animal shelters. If you want to see what this means, the graphic above is what May has looked like at the Humane Society of Elmore County’s shelter since 2007. In May, HSEC took in 469 animals to shelter.
Please have your pet spayed or neutered. HSEC’s shelter is overflowing right now. If you are looking for a new animal, please consider visiting animal shelters first before you start shopping.

HSEC is an Open-Admission Shelter supporting Elmore County Alabama residents for intake. Open for intake by appointment Mon-Sat 8-4. Adoptions also by appointment Mon-Sat 10-4 AFTER approval of Adoption Application. Adopters can be from anywhere.
