Kirk Herbstreit breaks down in GameDay’s emotional Lee Corso tribute

An emotional video tribute to the longtime commentator was released by ESPN’s College GameDay, the renowned college football pregame show, one week prior to Lee Corso’s final headgear selection before his retirement.

The former coach received notes from co-hosts, guest pickers, fans, family, and friends during a six-minute presentation.

Participants in the video included Corso’s kids and grandkids, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, Lane Kiffin, Charles Barkley, Rece Davis, Chris Fowler, and Scottie Scheffler.

Long-term With his heartfelt letter to Corso, GameDay commentator Kirk Herbstreit may have been the star of the show.

Before sobbing, Herbstreit remarked, “It’s been an incredible.” An amazing honor. It’s also an honor to have been your partner for so many years. Lee Corso will never be seen again. I appreciate all that you have done for me, this sport, and this show. You are unique. I love you, friend.

After 38 seasons of college football with the network, the renowned ESPN broadcaster announced in April that he was retiring. On Saturday, August 30th, he will make his final choice of headgear.

Corsoin Los Angeles was celebrated at the ESPYs last month, where his co-hosts and the USC band played to a full house.

Earlier this month, Corso’s 90th birthday was wished by Saban and McAfee, among others.
