Lane Kiffin, the head football coach of Ole Miss, has no problem causing controversy on social media.
Kiffin’s latest target was Auburn coach Hugh Freeze, who was made the subject of a Sunday night jab on X (previously Twitter).
Kiffin cited a May 19 post from Freeze that featured him playing golf and saying Fantastic work, Coach! “Game on,” accompanied by a fire emoji.
According to the USGA’s Golf Handicap Information Network database, Freeze played 10 rounds of golf between June 1 and June 24, which has prompted criticism of his frequent trips.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Auburn’s 2026 recruiting class, which had a lot of decommitments during that time, is currently ranked 86th in the nation. Right now, the Ole Miss 2026 recruiting class is ranked 37th.
Following a photo of a young woman standing next to a giant fish with a message that tagged Freeze, that was Kiffin’s second post of the evening that was directed at Freeze.
Although Kiffin’s taunting of other coaches, including Freeze, is nothing uncommon, the Tigers and Rebels will not face each other on the field in 2025.
