Rod Isaac, the midfield football coach, declared his retirement on Tuesday.
Isaac was the head coach of the Patriots for 15 years.
Isaac remarked, “I still love the game, but I just don’t have the energy to get up and taste it like I used to.” You only have time to move on.
I’m simply worn out. Now because you’re always vying for kids’ attention, everyone has so much to offer, even though I gave it my all. It was only playing football when I arrived.
According to basketball coach and assistant principal Courtney Jones, assistant coaches will take up duties and the school will start the process of finding a replacement coach as soon as feasible.
During his 15 seasons at Midfield, Isaac recorded a 73-89 record, which included 10 postseason visits. During his four seasons as head coach at Woodlawn from 2000 to 2003, the team finished 9–32.
Isaac was the Patriots’ defensive coordinator and assistant before taking over as head coach at Midfield. Additionally, he served as Thompson and Anniston’s assistant coach.
Under Carroll Cox, Isaac was an all-state defensive back while playing high school football at Jess Lanier, which is now Bessemer City. Lee-Montgomery defeated the Purple Tigers in the 1986 Class 6A title game.
He earned all-conference honors while playing defensive back for Alabama A&M for four years.
