P.K. Johnson, chief
Police Department of Millbrook
Walmart Loss Prevention personnel informed the Millbrook Police Department on June 19, 2025, that Terrence Lamons, a 39-year-old Montgomery man, was in Walmart at 145 Kelley Blvd. Lamons was the suspect in several theft instances that the Millbrook Police Department was looking into.
When patrol police got there, they arrested Lamons without any problems. After that, Lamons was taken to the Millbrook Police Department for additional examination. Lamons was charged with two counts of Organized Retail Theft after being interviewed by detectives. Before he was taken into police custody, Walmart loss prevention workers signed warrants for trespass and theft of property in the fourth degree for the products he allegedly stole from the store on June 19, 2025. After posting a $60,000 bond, Lamons was sent to the Elmore County Jail.
It seems that our earlier concerns about retail theft in the City of Millbrook have either gone unnoticed or have been ignored. I’ll say it one more at the risk of repetition. We live in a technologically advanced world. Today, the majority of residential residences and retail establishments use video security camera systems to safeguard their assets. Our local Walmart employs very skilled loss prevention staff and makes use of some of the best video surveillance equipment available.
Walmart loss prevention employees contacted our department yesterday to keep an eye on a person who may have committed multiple alleged retail theft incidents at this establishment in the previous month. Before our officers arrived on the scene, Lamons is accused of stealing from the establishment once more. After our police arrived on the scene, they swiftly and safely arrested the suspected criminal. Following their investigation, our Criminal Investigations Unit found sufficient probable cause in these circumstances to make an arrest and seek charges against the alleged criminal.
The interaction between our officers and detectives and the local Walmart loss prevention staff is fantastic. We are prepared to continue catching and prosecuting those who carry out these retail thefts at establishments in our city. We welcome visitors to our city and urge them to take advantage of the entertainment and shopping options it offers. The Franklin Inn, also called the Elmore County Jail, will be your only place to stay if you commit retail theft, even though we have several excellent hotel options available and more are on the way.
