Following a boat fire at Smith Lake on Sunday night, a Mississippi woman was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
According to ALEA Capt. Jeremy Burkett, the boat caught fire approximately 6 p.m. in Cullman County, north of the Trident Marine near Crane Hill.
The 20-foot Runabout was carrying a 30-year-old passenger named Katherine E. Goodwin. As the ship caught fire, she and three other passengers dove into the ocean, according to Burkett.
Goodwin’s injuries were not disclosed to the public.
Two 18-year-old passengers and the boat’s 40-year-old driver, Cody Curry, were unharmed.
The cause of the fire was not disclosed by the authorities.
The Marine Patrol Division of ALEA is still investigating.
