NFL star struggled to host SNL because he ‘can’t really read that well’

When presenting Saturday Night Live in 2023, Travis Kelce encountered several difficulties behind the scenes.

The tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs stated in a recent appearance on the “Bussin with the Boys” podcast that the pre-show table read was the most difficult aspect of hosting Saturday Night Live since he is not a very good reader.

“You’re just getting pitched ideas,” Kelce explained, which made the writers’ rooms enjoyable. The table reading was kind of a f…d predicament for a guy who doesn’t read all that well.

“Instead of really acting it out, giving it a voice, giving it a character, and things like that, I felt like I was just trying to get through the reading,” he continued. All I could think about was, Don’t f…ng skip this paragraph.

On March 4, 2023, Kelce, who had gained notoriety because of his relationship with Taylor Swift, presented the fourteenth episode of Saturday Night Live Season 48.

Kelsea Ballerini, a musician, joined him.

The Super Bowl champion claimed that he felt lot more at ease interacting with the humor and the ridiculous things after the table read.

“I need to be a professional here,” Kelce remarked, yet the feeling persisted.

I want to take advantage of this, but I also want to enjoy myself and avoid coming across like a loser. My goal is for them to respect my method and my serious approach. But, dude, that was just an awesome roller coaster.

In recent years, Kelce has pushed his way into Hollywood, securing a regular part in Grotesquerie on FX. He will shortly co-star with Adam Sandler in the Happy Gilmore sequel on Netflix.
