Store clerk shot during holdup at Dollar General in Birmingham’s Five Points West

During a heist at a Dollar General in Birmingham, a store clerk was shot and gravely hurt.

The business, located at 2314 Warrior Road in Five Points West, was shot at just before 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The male employee was shot in the chest, according to police contacts. He had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital immediately.

At least a dozen evidence markers were placed by investigators.

Both the immediate area around the business and a wider perimeter that extended several blocks were cordoned off by police.

Employees’ relatives gathered outside the yellow crime scene tape in an attempt to learn more about their loved ones.

There was an active search for two potential suspects. Sgt. LaQuitta Wade stated that no arrests had been made as of 9 p.m.
