News from Elmore Autauga
After a three-hour standoff with cops from two different agencies, Terrie McKeithen, 26, of Millbrook, is in arrest after refusing to leave a house in the 4400 block of Hwy. 14.
At 5:43 p.m., Millbrook Police received a call regarding a reported case of domestic abuse. They met the victim at a local restaurant. In the meantime, other policemen showed up at the suspect’s house and tried to speak with McKeithen.
Officers discovered that McKeithen had warrants with the Elmore County Sheriff’s office after the suspect refused to speak. After being alerted, Sheriff Bill Franklin and a number of his officers showed up on the site.
Once more, Millbrook Police and Sheriff’s Office officers tried to get in touch. They were then informed that the subject was also in the residence with two little children. After that, officers managed to enter without using force, and the suspect was apprehended right away without any more problems.
McKeithen has warrants from the sheriff’s office for possession of a controlled substance and second-degree marijuana possession. Additionally, Millbrook Police have charged him with misdemeanor offenses such as third-degree domestic violence and obstruction of governmental activities.
Chief P.K. Johnson told the EAN, “There is just no reason that it got to this point, and it would have been much easier on everyone if (the suspect) had just communicated with us.” I would also like to express my gratitude to Sheriff Franklin, who contributed more officers from his special operations unit, as well as to my officers and members of our special operations unit. We are extremely fortunate to have local departments that collaborate effectively.
At the time of his booking, McKeithen had no bond listed and was taken to the Elmore County Jail. There wasn’t a mugshot available right away. As soon as that information becomes available, we will update this article.
