Trump says Biden-appointed Fed official ‘must resign now’ over mortgage fraud allegations

As accusations of mortgage fraud were forwarded to Attorney General Pam Bondi, President Donald Trump used to social media on Wednesday to call for the resignation of a Federal Reserve member who had been appointed by Joe Biden.

Lisa Cook, a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, needs to step down immediately! On Wednesday, the president posted to his Truth Social account.

Trump posted a Bloomberg News article stating that Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte encouraged Bondi to look into Cook’s two mortgages in addition to his demand for Cook’s resignation.

According to Bloomberg News, Pulte accused Cook of committing mortgage fraud under the criminal statute by fabricating bank records and property records in order to obtain better loan conditions in a letter to Bondi last week.

Cook allegedly obtained a mortgage on a house in Michigan that she stated would be her primary residence, and then obtained a second mortgage on a house in Georgia that she also claimed would be her primary residence, according to Pulte.

Pulte tweeted on Wednesday, “Don’t declare two principal residences in President Trump’s America.” Mortgage fraud has to be prosecuted as a major crime.

Additionally, he stated that Trump had good reason to fire Lisa Cook:

Trump called for Cook’s resignation on Truth Social a few hours later.

Cook was reappointed in 2023 for a term ending in 2038 after Biden appointed him to the Board of Governors in 2022.

She is the second Black woman Democrat and the third official with a Democratic affiliation to be accused of mortgage fraud by Trump or his associates, after New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Additionally, Trump demanded that Sen. Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, face charges of mortgage fraud.
