Following the shocking judgment in Sean Diddy Combs’ federal trial, where he was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution but avoided the more serious allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering, Casandra Cassie Ventura’s attorney has responded.
Douglas H. Wigdor, Ventura’s lawyer, praised his client for coming out with claims that ultimately resulted in the federal case and for demonstrating strength in her testimony in a statement provided to Variety.
According to Wigdor, the criminal procedure began in November 2023 when our client Cassie Ventura had the guts to submit a civil complaint.
Cassie cleared the path for a jury to find Combs guilty of transporting Cassie to engage in prostitution, even though they did not find him guilty of sex trafficking her beyond a reasonable doubt. Cassie’s disclosure of her ordeal has had a lasting impact on the entertainment business and the pursuit of justice. We must state unequivocally that we believe in and stand by our client, who displayed extraordinary bravery during this trial. She demonstrated unquestionable strength and raised awareness to the wrongdoing that has continued for decades without consequence as well as the realities of powerful men in our sphere. Change is long overdue, as demonstrated by this case, and we will keep fighting for survivors.
When Ventura first filed a lawsuit accusing Combs of rape in November 2023, it started a chain reaction of legal problems for Combs. She later became a crucial witness in his federal prosecution, providing a frank four-day testimony in which she claimed that he frequently attacked and psychologically tortured her, despite the fact that a settlement was reached the next day.
Videos of her and Combs’ freak-offs were given to the jury, along with pictures of the damage she had over their 11-year relationship.
A 2016 security footage showing Combs viciously attacking woman in a Los Angeles hotel corridor was one of the main pieces of evidence used in Combs’ trial. We own the domestic violence, Combs’ lawyers added, calling his actions in the video unacceptable.
Combs faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each of the two transportation offenses for which he is awaiting sentencing.
