After asking you for a week which barbecue restaurants in Alabama you believe are underappreciated, we invited you to vote in our poll to see which is the best. The goal of our Unsung Alabama series is to showcase some of the state’s best-kept secrets.
We may now declare Buddy’s BBQ in Talladega the victor.

Despite not being as well-known as the state’s more famous restaurants, Buddy’s garnered a lot of nominations and the most votes in our poll, which highlighted hidden gem restaurants from all over the state that frequently appeared in reader entries.
However, people pointed out that it wasn’t the only barbecue restaurant in Alabama that deserved greater respect. Here are a some of the restaurant submissions we got from across the state to demonstrate this. Additionally, keep an eye out for upcoming additional hidden grilling features.

Scottsboro’s Tate’s Bar-B-Quein! That small cinderblock building is producing the world’s BEST barbecue. I’ve lived there my whole life, and this family-run business has been serving our town for decades. You should definitely check it out. No other barbecue restaurant can compare to the deliciousness of Chief & Snoogie’s Hickory Pitin Trinity, so if you’re ever in the area, you should definitely try it. They have the best stuffed potatoes. In our small town, we have visited six different barbecue joints, and none of them offer potatoes that look or taste like theirs! Another big success is their family pack with potato salad. Unbelievable taste. Come on and give it a try for yourself instead of taking my word for it!– Bear Clair
